"The 2016 Montée de Tonnerre from Domaine Michel was one of the last premier crus to be bottled in the autumn and the wine was still a bit reserved post-bottling. Nevertheless, its ultimate quality is very easy to read, as the wine delivers a fine bouquet of lemon, pear, tart orange, complex, chalky minerality, white flowers and a touch of anise in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, long and very minerally, with a fine core, excellent cut and grip and superb backend mineral drive on the very long and snappy finish. Excellent Montée de Tonnerre!" |
