"Von Schubert's 2016 Maximin Grünhaus Riesling Sekt Brut was aged on the second lees for 25 months and was disgorged in May 2019 with the 2016 Herrenberg Spätlese as dosage. The wine opens with a terribly fresh, clear and intense "2016 nose" that is pure, complex and mineral in its spicy and yeasty aromas. On the palate, this is an intense, mouth-filling, pretty rich yet dry, tight and mineral Grünhaus Sekt with serious grip and mineral tension. It's a full-bodied, concentrated but refreshing, finessed and elegant sparkling wine with a long, complex and persistently salty finish. This is made for dinners rather than an aperitif, though you certainly can drink it any time. It tastes bone-dry, though it isn't. Tasted from AP 43 19 in June 2019." |
