"From a total of 1.55 hectares planted in high density (8,000 Chenins per hectare) on argilo-calcaire topping a tuff plateau, the straw-yellow 2018 Saumur Blanc Clos de l'Ecotard opens with a deep and intense yet refined and elegant, slightly dusty bouquet of crushed chalk, lemons and perfectly ripe fruit aromas. Aged on the lees for 10 months in barrels and bottled in late August 2019, this is a full-bodied, rich and intense yet fine and sustainably vital and salty Chenin with enormous power but also structure and deeper, mineral freshness." |
