98 RP. "Lalou Bize-Leroy's black-colored Richebourg is amazingly closed, but the awesome concentration, sheer precision of flavors, and extraordinary fatness and intensity are mind-boggling. Put it away for at least a decade and then watch it unfold for the next 20-35 years. It is a wine of extraordinary richness. As much as I admire her 1988 and 1989, for the long-term, the 1990 will achieve the greatest degree of complexity and provide the most pleasure . . . . I believe Madame Bize-Leroy has made more concentrated and profound wines from the grands cru vineyards of Richebourg and Romanee St.-Vivant than did the DRC in 1990." Wine Advocate #83, Oct 1992 |
