92 NM. "The 1998 Meursault Pré de Manche is a very rare wine from Domaine d’Auvenay that was limited to a single barrel, or the equivalent of 260 bottles according to the back label. It sports a disarming, Coche-like reduction on the nose that might seem a bit obvious, yet you cannot deny the tension and energy behind it. The palate is very well balanced with notes of white peach and orange rind, all very harmonious with the reduction less conspicuous towards the saline finish. At two decades old this is continuing to give so much pleasure. Good luck finding a bottle! Tasted at the mature white Burgundy dinner in Hong Kong." Neal Martin, Vinous.com, May 2019 |
