Review: "Chris Camarda produced his flagship wine from the oldest blocks of Champoux Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills (their average age is 30 years). It's more than two-thirds cabernet sauvignon this year, with the balance merlot, cabernet franc and petit verdot. The age of the vines may account, in part, for the formidable power of this wine, brooding and distant, like a thunderhead on the horizon. For now, it reveals little beyond scents of graphite, juniper and pine, with a dark and fleshy fruit character. Give it several years for the primary fruit to mature, then serve with braised lamb."
