Lot #277. Latour 1958

Description: Consists of 8 Bottles, 0.75L
Score: 89-91 NM.
"Remarkably youthful colour with just faint tawny aging on the rim. A light, quite sweet nose with smoke and a touch of raisin. Medium-bodied on the palate, the tannins melted away but still well-balanced with admirable vivacity on the finish. Quietly impressive. (Note that this was my inaugural First Growth courtesy of Justerini & Brooks.)" Neal Martin, Wine Journal, Dec 1999
Provenance: The Tower Cellar
Notes: 8 very top shoulder, light adhesive residue on capsules, 2 scuffed, 3 lightly scuffed labels. "The owner of this wine acquired it directly from the Latour Estate cellars. It was stored in a cold humid, natural cellar, 10m under a small hill in the Loire Valley. The levels were exceptional. The wines were extremely fresh, tasting much the same as the wines from the Estate's cellar from the same vintages. For that reason, the Château made an exception, putting new labels and capsules on this bottle. Reference: Frédéric Engerer, President, Château Latour"
