d'Yquem 2013, 0.75L
Sémillon / Sauvignon Blanc from Sauternes, Bordeaux

*This bottle has wine stained label

“Bright aromas of sliced mangoes, papaya, botrytis, and lemon follow through to a full body. Medium sweet with a phenolic palate that gives the wine structure and beauty. Electric acidity and freshness combined with impressive energy and length. A strict selection was made. 40% of the production was destined to the grand vin. About 80,000 bottles made. This is 70% semillion and 30% sauvignon blanc.” James Suckling 98 Points

“Lightly toasted marshmallow and macadamia nut aromas lead the way, followed by incredibly juicy mirabelle plum, green fig, and glazed pear and peach flavors. As big as this is, there are still plenty of honeysuckle, quinine and chamomile notes kicking the finish into yet another gear. This has purity and length to burn, with decades more to go.” Wine Spectator 98 Points

“Firstly, you notice the color, which is a touch deeper than recent vintages at this stage. The bouquet is quite honeyed and rich for Yquem at this early juncture, with subtle scents of peach skin, white flowers, and a puff of chalk and frangipane. The palate is viscous on the entry, all about the texture at first, coating the mouth with luscious botrytized fruit. There are touches of Seville orange marmalade, fresh apricot, a hint of spice and passion fruit. This is imbued with impressive depth and weight, perhaps an Yquem that is determined to make an impression after last year-s absence. It might not possess the finesse of a top flight Yquem, but it has immense power and persistency.” Wine Advocate 95-97 Points

Hudelot-Noëllat Romanée-Saint-Vivant 2013, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Vosne Romanee, Burgundy

"The 2013 Romanée-St.-Vivant from Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat was another late malo finisher and the wine was still on the grumpy side at the time of my visit, with a fairly expressive nose currently coupled to an out of sorts palate impression, but this will clearly be outstanding. The bouquet offers up a fabulous constellation of raspberries, cherries, blood orange, beautiful spice tones, lavender, complex soil nuances, fresh nutmeg and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, pure and quite poised (despite its grumpy nature at the time of my visit), with fine mid-palate depth, nascently complexity, ripe tannins and superb length and grip on the tangy finish. This is going to be very, very special when it reaches its zenith." John Gilman 95-97

"The 2013 Romanée Saint Vivant Grand Cru has a gorgeous bouquet with vibrant red berry fruit, wilted rose petals, a touch of lavender coming through with time. There is real vigor and generosity here. The palate is medium-bodied with quite a firm structure. There is wonderful depth and body that forms the foundation of this wine, coming across a little more masculine than the 2014, exerting a firm grip with a slightly curmudgeonly finish that just needs time to mellow. This is excellent."Wine Advocate 95 points.

“Deep red with ruby highlights. Sexy aromas and flavors of primary dark berries, black raspberry and cocoa powder complicated by spicy oak tones. Thick yet lively on entry; a youthfully imploded but utterly seamless wine with outstanding energy and depth. For all its density, this tactile, saline wine shows a magically light touch. Really builds and lingers on the superb rising finish, which features noble tannins. Still a baby, this grand cru has a great future.Stephen Tanzer 94+ points.

Fratelli Alessandria Barolo 2013, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barolo, Piedmont

“Rose and cherry notes are prominent in this supple red, whose structure is firm and well-integrated. Eucalyptus, tobacco and spice accents add interest and the finish leaves a mouthwatering impression.” Wine Spectator 93 Points

“Fratelli Alessandria's 2013 Barolo is fabulous. Scents of orange peel, cardamom, dried flowers, mint and dried cherries give the 2013 a decidedly exotic flavor profile that will only gain in sweetness and perfume as the wine ages. Mid-weight structure gives the wine considerable appeal, but readers who can cellar the 2013 will be in for a treat. Alessandria's straight Barolo remains one of the most fairly priced wines in all of Piedmont. Don't miss it.”Vinous 92+ Points

Fratelli Alessandria Barolo Gramolere 2013, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barolo, Piedmont

“The 2013 Barolo Gramolere is the most linear and taut of these 2013 Barolos from Alessandria. Chalk, white pepper, mint and sweet red toned fruit give the wine its brightness. Intensely saline and sculpted, the 2013 plays off a real sense of energy and drive. It, too, needs plenty of time in bottle to be at its very best. Today, the 2013 pulses with energy, but the best is yet to come. Vittore Alessandria is naturally most often associated with Barolos from Verduno, his home town, but the Gramolere, from an estate vineyard in Monforte, is often one of the better wines in the range, as it is once again in 2013.” Vinous 94 Points

“The textural fabric of this red is tightly knit, exuding more wool than silk, framing the cherry, menthol, licorice and tar flavors. Though this is compact today, especially the finish, the vibrant acidity extends the stony length.” Wine Spectator 93 Points

Sandrone Barolo Aleste 2013, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barolo, Piedmont

“The 2013 Barolo Aleste is a wine of striking purity and nuance. It is also one of the most finessed, vivid young Barolos I have ever tasted from Sandrone. The translucence of Nebbiolo comes through loud and clear. Freshly cut flowers, mint and finely cut fruit are some of the signatures. This wine has developed beautifully in recent vintages as the oak influence is less than it was just a few years ago. Beams of tannin and bright, salivating acidity add finesse to this translucent, exceptional Barolo. Aleste is the new name Sandrone is using for the Barolo formerly known as Cannubi Boschis.” Vinous 97+ Points

“Formerly known as Barolo Cannubi Boschis (the last vintage by that name was 2012), the 2013 Barolo Aleste has been renamed to honor the youngest generation of the Sandrone family, Alessia and Stefano. The wine name Aleste takes the first three letters from each grandchild's name. The move represents the culmination of more than 50 harvests completed by this legendary winemaker and his desire to pass on the torch. His grandchildren are at different points in their respective viticulture and enology university studies. Now under a different name, the wine obviously shows the same delicate floral nuances that you get with this wine (fruit from Cannubi is always harvested first). This is a complete and exciting wine with delicate notes of wild berry and smoke backed by licorice and blue flower.” Wine Advocate 97 Points

“Formerly known as Cannubi Boschis, this impressive wine boasts alluring aromas of crushed raspberry, baking spice, chopped mint, violet and woodland berry. The savory elegant palate delivers succulent Marasca cherry, strawberry compote, cinnamon, licorice and a hint of coffee. Fine-grained tannins and bright acidity provide polished support and great balance.” Wine Enthusiast 97 Points
“Extremely perfumed with blackberry and chocolate aromas. Hints of mushrooms. Full body, soft and velvety tannins and a long and flavorful finish. Shows wonderful potential. This replaces their Cannubi Boschis bottling.” James Suckling 95 Points

“Well-structured, revealing dark fruit flavors of black cherry and black currant, with accents of iron, tobacco and tar. Has grip and a fresh feel, lingering on the licorice- and mineral-tinged finish.” Wine Spectator 94 Points

Lisini Brunello di Montalcino 2013, 1.5L
Sangiovese from Brunello di Montalcino, Tuscany

"Exuding cherry, strawberry and floral flavors tinged with iron, earth and spice notes, this ripe red is elegant in profile, tightly wound and deftly balanced, ending with a kick of fruit, spice and mineral elements." Wine Spectator 96 Points

"Fruity aromas of wild red berry align with earthy notes of forest floor, new leather and fragrant purple flower. The smooth ripe palate offers juicy Morello cherry, star anise, orange zest and an earthy hint of game. It's savory and loaded with personality." Wine Enthusiast 94 Points

"Lisini's 2013 Brunello di Montalcino opens to a delightful appearance that sees shades of garnet and dark ruby blend into one. The bouquet is sprightly and buoyant, thanks to a pretty ensemble of wild berry, licorice and grilled herb aromas. Those are mixed with heavier background tones of spice and leather. There is also a noticeable floral note of wild rose and dried jasmine. This is a silky and smooth Brunello with a hint of fresh acidity on the close." Wine Advocate 93 Points

"Bright medium red. Spicy, floral perfumes of red cherry, red currant, licorice and minty herbs. At once juicy and lively, but also dense and energetic; bright, harmonious acidity nicely frames the cool flavors of red currant, spicy plum and minty herbs. This refined Brunello boasts outstanding tension, midpalate energy and focus. Finishes with polished tannins and noteworthy floral lift." Vinous 93 Points

Arcudi Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain Black Sears Vineyard 2013, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Howell Mountain, California

ON SALE! Original Price: $149.99

"Coming from the famed Black Sears Vineyard, better known for its black bear as well as old vine Zinfandel, this is an interesting Cabernet Sauvignon from Tony Arcudi, who worked for Michel Chapoutier and Heidi Barrett before starting his own brand. His 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Black Sears Vineyard spent 18 months in 50% new French oak. It is a gorgeous, flowery wine with loads of graphite, mulberry and blackberry followed by some spicy oak, a deep, rich, full-bodied mouthfeel, some supple tannins and a heady, lush finish." Robert Parker 95 Points.

“Deep, inky and powerful, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Black Sears Vineyard oozes with class and intensity. This is one of the more voluptuous, forward 2013 Cabernets readers will come across. The flavors are bold and intense, but all the elements are in the right place. In this vintage, winemaker Tony Arcudi pressed early to avoid overextracting. Full throttle and opulent to the core, the 2013 needs a few years in bottle to drop some baby fat. Chocolate, mocha, black cherries, new leather and smoke add the closing shades of complexity as this powerful Cabernet shows off its distinctive personality.” Vinous 94 Points

Chateau Montelena Cabernet Sauvignon The Montelena Estate 2013, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Calistoga, California

"Montelena's 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is unctuous, deep and concentrated. A wine of gravitas and power, the 2013 possesses remarkable textural richness, with a demi-glace like sweetness that is unusual for this wine and that lends an exotic feel throughout. The tannins are nearly buried by the sheer intensity of the fruit, but they are very much present. Patience will be key. Iron, smoke, tar and licorice are some of the many notes that infuse the voluptuous finish." 95 Points Antonio Galloni

Crane Assembly Cabernet Sauvignon G.B. Crane 2013, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Petite Sirah / Merlot from St. Helena, California

"The 2013 G. B. Crane Cabernet Sauvignon Composition is a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petite Sirah and 2% Merlot. This is a big boy at 15.3% natural alcohol. Nevertheless, there’s no heat to it. It is a seamless classic from Napa, with copious quantities of blackberry and blackcurrant, some Asian spice and a full-bodied, nearly massive entry on the palate, with oodles of fruit, glycerin and extract. Tannins are present, but soft and well-integrated. This is a big, juicy, compelling effort from Dave Phinney..." Ropert Parker 98 Points

Mayacamas Cabernet Sauvignon 2013, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Mt. Veeder, California

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is a huge, dark wine. Virile, imposing and massively structured in the glass, the 2013 is a wine for readers who can be patient. The flavors are dark, bold and incisive, with potent tannins and a real feeling of gravitas to back things up. Black cherry, game, smoke, gravel and licorice add to an impression of brooding intensity. In many ways, the 2013 reminds me of some of the great wines of the 1970s in its dark, imposing personality.” 97 Points Antonio Galloni

"This is slightly more opulent than other vintages of Mayacamas with tile, slate, dark fruits and flowers such as roses. Full body, firm and luscious tannins. Lots of sage and lavender undertones. Best ever from here? First wine from new owners. Reserved extravagance. 97 Points James Suckling

Schrader Cabernet Sauvignon CCS Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard 2013, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Oakville, California

"There is something ethereal about the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon CCS, a wine that I tend to give more perfect scores to than of the other Schrader offerings. This is clone 4 from a special block of the Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard in Oakville, and it always seems to have these incredible, explosive aromatics ranging from blueberry to blackberry to cassis to spring flowers and lead pencil shavings. It’s always one of the more seductive wines early on, with sweet, velvety tannins, a plush, succulent mouthfeel, full-bodied splendor and majestic texture. The Hilt Pinot Noir The Old Guard 2013, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Santa Barbara County, California

"The 2013 Pinot Noir Old Guard has really closed up since I tasted it last year. Cool and bracing in style, the 2013 offers a compelling mélange of deeply spiced, floral notes to complement the dark Sanford & Benedict fruit, all with the support of firm tannins that need time to soften. A vivid, sculpted wine, the 2013 is a thrill to taste today, but it needs time to show at its very best. This is another impressive showing. The Vineyardist Cabernet Sauvignon 2013, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Diamond Mountain District, California

"The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is flirting with perfection already. It is 100% estate Cabernet Sauvignon from clones 7, 33 and 337, and the harvest took place in late October. The wine was aged in 100% new French oak, of which three-fourths were Darnajou barrels and 25% Taransaud. Unfortunately, only 240 cases were produced. The wine is an absolutely spectacular Diamond Mountain Cabernet. Dense purple, with notes of charcoal, burning embers, licorice, blackberry and cassis, the wine hits the palate with a cascade of gorgeously pure fruit, a full-bodied opulence, but sweet tannin appears in the finish, giving the wine grip and delineation. This fabulous Diamond Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon should age beautifully . . ." 98 Points Robert M. Parker Jr.

Turley Zinfandel Buck Cobb Vineyard 2013, 0.75L
Zinfandel from Amador County, California

"A lighter Zinfandel (although by no means should the word 'wimpy' be implied), the 2013 Zinfandel Cobb Vineyard from Amador tips the scales . . . . This higher elevation vineyard (1,500 feet) planted in volcanic and granite soils has produced a more finesse-styled and aromatic Zinfandel. It possesses a touch of austerity, but beautiful, almost Pinot Noir-inspired black cherry and berry fruit. Some minerality again makes an appearance in the wine. Medium to full-bodied, it is very stylish, and for those who want a Zinfandel more reserved and restrained, this is your pick of the Turley portfolio. Probably no one in Northern California has done more for the renaissance and resurrection of old vine Zinfandel than Larry Turley. He started Turley Cellars after selling most of his interest in Frog’s Leap Winery to his original partner, John Williams. The Turley Cellars project was founded in 1993, and is now over 20 years of age. The great thing about Larry Turley is that he’s quick to admit he’s never met an old vine he’s not fond of. As a result, they farm and buy fruit from 35 different vineyards, with some of them dating back to the late 1800s, long before Prohibition. There are at least 30-plus separate wines, and some super-talented winemakers have worked for Turley – first Ehren Jordan and more recently Tegan Passalacqua. I have praised these wines from the beginning and, to my surprise, older vintages . . . have aged remarkably well . . . . Turley’s Petite Syrahs are probably 50-year wines . . ." 90 Points Robert M. Turley Zinfandel Juvenile 2013, 0.75L
Zinfandel from California, California

""A killer Zinfandel, the 2013 Zinfandel Juvenile is a blend from younger vines replanted on old-vine sites. For the statisticians, this wine is made from Zinfandel vines ranging from six to 25 years of age across 15 different vineyards, including such hallowed Zin terroir as Hayne, Ueberroth, Pesenti, Salvador, and Vineyard 101. This is a stunning example that shouldn’t be discounted just because it is not a single-vineyard wine. Deep ruby/purple, with oodles of black cherry, raspberry and blackcurrant fruit as well as some pepper and spice, the wine is plump, full-bodied, sexy and delicious . . . .  this is a lusty, extroverted Zinfandel that has been brilliantly put together by the Turley winemaking crew. Probably no one in Northern California has done more for the renaissance and resurrection of old vine Zinfandel than Larry Turley. He started Turley Cellars after selling most of his interest in Frog’s Leap Winery to his original partner, John Williams. Vineyard 29 Cabernet Sauvignon Aida Estate 2013, 0.75L

"On the valley floor, with an almost Châteauneuf-du-Pape layer of small stones, is the Aida Estate, one of my favorite vineyards just north of St. Helena. The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Aida Estate is a blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc aged 20 months in three-fourths new French oak.
